Journal:Icurrently have four on the go, but I have two that I use regularly. Firstly, my day-to-day journal where I record my thoughts, emotions and experiences. This can then also double as my prompt journal, where I take a question and journal my thoughts. For example: ‘What beliefs do I live by that are currently holding me back”.
Connect with people that inspire, motivate and lift you up. This is important both face-to-face and digitally. If your connections don’t inspire, motivate or lift you up, then questions should be asked as to whether they should be in your world. Connecting with the wrong people can have a significant impact on your view of the world and yourself, so really focus on this.
Create your very own “code to live by’Do you really know your own value or your beliefs? Or are you functioning on autopilot? Very often we think we know, but if you have not reflected on them, how do you know they still stand? Is it your beliefs that are actually holding you back? What is your purpose in life? Do you know? Have you given it any thought?
Stop saying ‘I will one day. 'How often have we said this to ourselves, and our life still ticks by and nothing changes? The “when the children are more independent”, “when I have the money etc. If you keep waiting, there will never be a good time. If the dream, or desire, is there, create the plan now and set out to achieve it.
Create and follow a Life Plan: Divide your life into different zones: Relationships, Financial, Health, Dreams, Growth, or any other zones you feel are important to you. The wheel of life is a great tool to get you started on planning your life. Start off by asking yourself questions around each of the areas. Questions such as: How satisfied are you? Is there something missing? What impact is this zone having on my life etc. This is the start of your life plan.
Get to know yourself again: what do you actually want? Who are you when your roles are removed? Who is ……. at your very core? What makes you laugh? What are you doing when you are fully immersed and time seems to pass by in a blink of an eye?
Create boundaries in your life and stick to them:Boundaries are your friend They are a way of preventing frustration and strained relationships; they are there to ensure that life runs smoothly and you don’t get drawn into situations that you don’t feel comfortable in
It is not too late to start again: Oh my goodness, it is so not. I started a second business at 49; women are writing their first book in their 60’s and 70’s, skydiving at 90. If you are 50, you potentially could have another 50 years, what an exciting thought. What are you going to do with those years? Certainly not be held back by convention.
